About Bob Wharton
Biography
Bob is a dedicated family man who was born and raised in Newport News. He has deep roots in the community, having graduated from Menchville High School and being a lifelong member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. After high school, Bob pursued his passion for baseball and played at Campbell University and East Carolina University, where he completed his studies in 1995. It was during his time at ECU that he met his wife, Melanie, and they have been happily married for 25 years.
Together, Bob and Melanie have three children: Maggie, Bobby, and Libby. Maggie is 23 years old, Bobby is 22, and Libby is 20. The family also includes a beloved golden retriever named Banks. Bob takes immense pride in his family and considers them to be the most important part of his life.
Professionally, Bob is the Branch Manager of the Newport News branch and has been working as a Loan Originator for 17 years. He was recently elected to the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of Virginia Peninsula. He is also a founder and partner of Crab Shack on the James and James River Fishing Pier, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit. Outside of work, Bob enjoys various hobbies and activities. He is an avid fisherman and appreciates skiing, golfing, hunting, and attending live concerts. Additionally, he finds joy in cooking with his wife, Melanie.
Bob takes great satisfaction in assisting his clients and helping them achieve their dream of homeownership. He values honesty and integrity in his work and has built long-lasting relationships with many of his first-time homebuyers who have gone on to purchase multiple homes over the years. Bob feels honored that his clients trust him to guide them through the significant investment of buying a home.
